Our approach

Your lungs, in expert hands

Breathing is not just a physiological process — it's the essence of daily life. Our respiratory team combines the latest diagnostic technology with patient education to help you live well with lung conditions.

01

Precise diagnostics

Accurate diagnosis is the cornerstone of respiratory care. Symptoms that look similar on the surface can have very different underlying causes — and very different treatments.

Spirometry, structured clinical assessment and targeted investigations let us distinguish asthma from COPD, pick up emphysema early, and measure lung function over time so treatment is matched to what's actually happening in your lungs.

Better data in — better care out.

02

Empowerment through education

The patients who do best are those who understand their condition. Inhaler technique, trigger awareness and action plans turn respiratory conditions from something that happens to you into something you manage.

Every patient leaves with a clear plan — how to recognise early warning signs, when to step up treatment, and when to seek urgent care. We teach technique in the room, not on a leaflet.

Education is treatment — when it's done properly.

Frequently asked

Respiratory care, answered honestly

Common questions our respiratory doctors hear from patients across the Gold Coast.

How do I know if my asthma is well-controlled?

The key signals are symptom frequency, how often you need your reliever, whether asthma wakes you at night, and whether it's limiting activity. If you use your blue inhaler more than twice a week, your asthma is likely undertreated.

What is spirometry and what does it feel like?

Spirometry is a short breathing test. You'll take a deep breath in and blow out hard into a mouthpiece. It's non-invasive, takes under fifteen minutes, and gives us precise measurements of how well your lungs are working.

Can COPD be reversed?

COPD cannot be fully reversed, but its progression can be slowed significantly with the right combination of medication, smoking cessation, pulmonary rehabilitation and lifestyle support. Early diagnosis matters most.

Do I need a spacer with my inhaler?

For metered-dose inhalers, a spacer dramatically improves how much medication actually reaches your lungs. We'll assess your technique at your appointment and recommend a spacer if it helps.

When should I worry about a persistent cough?

A cough lasting more than three weeks, a cough that's worsening, or a cough with breathlessness, chest pain, weight loss or blood should always be assessed. Most causes are treatable — the earlier the better.
